I purchased 10 of these to replace a florescent fixture in two bedrooms and a hallway. Color & function: Noticeable improvement over the "warm" florescent previously installed. Nice warm light; I would be hard pressed to know they weren't incandescent if I wasn't the one who installed them. In my subjective opinion, the "75W equivalent" claim is a little inflated. These look like 50-60 watt incandescent, IMHO. These do have a delay when powered up... I'd estimate a .5-1 second when cold. After leaving them on all night, there was no heat coming from them. Assembly: The fixture itself is all metal, with the transformer made out of plastic and secured well to the top of the light. The trim is painted white with a "metallic" trim painted on as well. This trim unfortunately looks a little cheap, and gives the appearance of plastic. Installation: They are easy enough to install if you have the wiring run. There are screw down connections for your hot and neutral, but nothing for the ground to connect to. The connections also look like something you'd find on a computer rather than a fixture in your home. The screw down connections are made right onto the board of the power supply, so any excessive shifting while installing these may damage the board. For this reason, I would highly suggest you use pigtails made from stranded/braided copper, rather than connect your solid copper home wiring into these. The rigidity of solid copper wire may damage the power supply.
